PC Game Reviews

PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds (also known as PUBG) was developed and released by Bluehole on March 2007. The game developers were inspired by a Japanese film “Battle Royale” released in 2000, where it shows a group of high schoolers who are forced to fight up till their death by the Japanese government.

In this game, up to hundred people leave from a plane through parachutes onto an island and then search for weapons and other equipment to kill other players, while the ultimate winner of the game is the one that survives in the end; it is a fight for survival. This game has multiple battleground locations to play. It has some cool features like multiplayer options and is available on a mobile app; which makes it a great choice for everyone.

Gameplay

PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds is an enjoyable game that immerses yourself deep into a deadly world full of dangers. It is a Player versus player game in which up to one 100 players fight in a battle royale, a type of large-scale last man standing match where players battle to remain the last alive. The game allows players to choose the match mode: solo, duo, or with a small team of up to four people. The last man or team alive wins the battle. Each battle starts with players parachuting from a plane onto a map. The plane’s battle path across the map differs with each round; it requires players to quickly determine the best time to eject to the ground.

Players can start their adventure without any resources and gear beyond customized clothing selections that don’t affect gameplay. Once they land, players can explore areas such as buildings, ghost towns and other areas in order to find weapons, armor, and other equipment. These objects are distributed throughout the map at the start of a match, with certain high-risk zones having better equipment. Players can opt to play either from the 1st-person or 3rd-person perspective, each having their own gameplay advantages and disadvantages though server-specific settings can be used to force all players into one perspective in order to eliminate some advantages.

Modes

In PUBG you have two different modes namely the TPP mode and FPP mode. The TPP mode stands for Third-Person Perspective while FPP stands for First-Person Perspective. You can choose from any of them and both of you would give you an entirely different experience.

TPP is highly regarded as a low-risk high reward competitive play. So sometimes it doesn’t allow a good player showcase his or her potential, because it removes some skill-sets from the game. In this mode, the player in the competition does not rush to make their moves until and unless they are forced to do so, which makes the game boring to watch for the spectators; while not for the players. Another thing with this mode is that the players also gets rewarded for not making any moves which also promotes defensive gameplay. The people who watch and many who play the game want action more than the slow reaction which made the game developers realize that they must introduce a new mode with more action.

In FPP gameplay, the game is very much exciting to play and becomes a bit more challenging to play it. In FPP play you can just wait in a corner to watch the movements of the players around you. Here you have to be more focussed and attentive during play, you’ll have to understand what direction to watch and where to move to gain an advantage. When you engage someone in this play and attack then he/she has to take cover or attack you in response, and you can also attack from another side. It is very important to take the right decision as there are so many options available for you if you attack an enemy but very few possibilities if you are attacked. This is why you have to make intelligent moves at this point.

The new FPP mode is more desirable nowadays due to its highly competitive gameplay.

Maps in PUBG

PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds feature multiple gameplay maps: each one has its own areas to explore loot items, difficulties, and achievements. In those maps, the red zone indicates a city or a certain area where the explosives are planted and a C-130 flies over and it drops air bombs. At the moment there are four different maps used in both modes of the game. The maps are named as Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok and Vikendi.

The first map is called Erangel and is located in Russia. The second one is Miramar that takes place in a Central American sand map. Sanhok is an Adriatic island snow map while Vikendi is a Southeast Asian forest map.

Weapons

As this game is all about staying alive till the end of the play, it is very crucial to have strong weapons among all or at least to have those ones that can get you dominated over your enemy.

There are various types of weapons used in the game. The best is certainly the one that has the highest capacity to destruct the enemies. The major weapons used are Sniper Rifles, Pistols, Shotguns, Assault Rifles, Submachine guns, Melee, and throwables.

Pistols are regarded as the second option in PUBG; but they can cause good damage if used swiftly and timely. The shotguns are easily found during the play and can cause more destruction at a shorter range than a pistol. While sniper rifles are very good for far targets. Assault rifles and machine guns are excellent for close encounters, you can fire several rounds of bullets at a time which makes them the best option for most players. Melee weapons can stunt the enemies whereas the throwable is very effective weapons among all the weapons used in the game.

Skins

PUBG clothing objects normally referred to as skins are an essential part of the game. Most of the game skins are ideal for cosmetic purposes and allows players to add their style and connect with their character. Most of the game skins have the potential of helping players compete successfully. Items such as a helmet or a vest deliver additional protection against several kinds of attacks. While, some skins can help players escape attacks, and stay out of sight by blending in with their surroundings.

The game offers a massive range of unique skins and skins customization options that can be gathered in multiple ways. The skins which the player can use to customize their character does not have any effect on the performance of their character. And the only exception to this is backpacks, as they can improve carry capacity.

Unlike other, all the other game items such as weapons, crates, and tools, skins can also be bought through the Steam Marketplace, or you can be found in Pioneer Crates that are bought with Battle Points in game. Crates have multiple random items, but you can better your odds of collected rare items by buying expensive crates. The more expensive crate is, the more likely it is that you will get a rare object. Most of the skins can’t be unlocked this way and are only got as a pre-order incentive.

PUBG Tournaments

In order to make the game more interesting and enjoyable, the game developers introduced a range of exciting tournaments. Each tournament offers different objectives to complete, resources to collect and battles. During each tournament, players are able to communicate with their team members in order to better plan the strategy and win the game.
