• Dedicated graphics: First, a dedicated graphics card is rarely found in laptops designed for other applications other gaming. It makes the machine video and image quality super classic. The median range 940MX graphics card offers better performance than Intel HD graphics 630.
  • Superfast SSD storage: M.2 MPCle SSD storage technology is phasing out SATA technology. It offers four times more speed than the fastest SATA storage. Incorporating it into the Aspire E 15 as the primary storage has led to faster boot times, application launch and level loading. However, 256GB is a too size stingy for a multimedia laptop.
  • Excellent battery: Most people spend 6 to 10 hours in the office or workplace. If your job involves a lot of travelling and presentations in remote areas, the Aspire E 15 solves the power problem. You can prepare your sides, write reports and sit through hours of long presentations without worrying about the power going out before you are done.

  • Low-quality webcam: It is absurd to expect the quality of pictures in this laptop to match those of phones and tablets. However, there is always a mark for each PC category. The Aspire E 15 webcam delivers dismally on this standard. The color is under-saturated leading to off-coloured gray pictures.
  • Bloatware: Acer and HP are notorious for bagging their laptops with unnecessary bloatware. Aspire E 15 comes with unnecessary apps such as Candy Crush Soda Saga, and Sling TV and nearly a dozen of Acer specific programs.

Acer’s Aspire E 15 E5-575G-57D4 is a laptop designed for other functions except hardcore gaming. Its excellent performance, decent battery life and portability make it a suitable machine for business persons who travel a lot. They can use it for all their business operations in remote places for a good part of the day. Even more is the ability of the machine to provide casual gaming at a moderate performance.

It is important to point out that the 266GB SSD memory is not sufficient for all documents. However, it is a non-issue considering the affordable cloud technology. For offline storage, you can use part of the saving on purchasing this laptop to buy a 1TB HDD.

Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-57D4 Full HD Notebook Review

Laptops are categorized into two categories depending on the applications, gaming laptop and multimedia laptops. The classes are further classified into heavy and lightweight. The Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-57D4 is renowned as the bestselling lightweight in the multimedia category. Besides saving you from a backache, it is a budget-friendly machine that offers you nearly half a day of battery life.

Sturdy Design

The Acer Aspire E 15 comes in a plastic casing with an obsidian black lid. The notebook is sturdy and feels durable with its metallic deck and a textured base. It weighs only 4.97 pounds in spite of its solid build.

Typing Experience

The Aspire E15 keyboard offers excellent typing experience with a decent vertical travel and spacing between keys. It also comes with a backlight for a night or dark room typing. Navigation with the Aspire’s 4.2 by 3-inch touchpad is accurate and smooth. Other touchpad navigation features include three-finger swiping and pinch to zoom.

Processor Performance

The main deal breaker when considering a laptop for average day to day applications is the processor. The Acer E15 comes with the highest version of the 5th generation Intel Kaby Lake-based processor, Core i5-7500U. It is clocked at 2.5GHz. Complemented with an 8GB RAM, the processor delivers outstanding performance during moderate multitasking. As a multimedia laptop, the RAM is not sufficient for memory intensive video editing applications. Fortunately, the RAM is upgradable.

The move from HDD dependent storage to faster and more robust SSD storage option has caused ripples in the industry. Acer has set the pace with this technology using a 256GB SSD as the primary and the only storage in the Aspire E15. It offers an incredible 195.7 megabytes per second transfer rate. This is way much higher than a 7200 rpm 1TB HDD’s 36.5 Mbps.

Acer’s Aspire E15 comes with NVidia GeForce 940MX dedicated graphics card. As a result, it offers a better game experience for classic games and those that are not graphics intensive. Though the performance of the Aspire E15 is laughable when compared with the pricey gaming laptops, its 65 frames per second are higher than the 55fps of the group. You can play the latest games at low to medium settings.

The Acer Aspire E15 has a high definition 15.6-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The TN display panel provides better viewing angles compared to its alternative, IPS display. Even though the Acer’s Aspire is not a gaming laptop, the screen has high refresh rates.

As a multimedia laptop, its colour rendering and accuracy is way over the roof. It scored an excellent 0.45 on Delta-E tests. For starters, the closer the score is to zero the better screen’s color reproduction. The 0.45 is way much higher than the group’s average of 2.50. It also reproduced 156 percent of the RGB color gamut. This too is remarkably higher than the category’s average of 93.76 percent. However, this colorful display is dimmer than expected.

Battery Life

One feature that makes the Aspire E15 a bestselling laptop is its outstanding battery life. Acer promises a 12-hour battery life for this machine. In a simulated real application environment that involves web browsing and multimedia applications, the battery lasted for 11 hours and 10 minutes. This is more than the category’s average of 6 hours and 50 minutes. Consequently, Aspire E 15 is a great choice if you have presentations outdoors where power sockets may be limited or unavailable.

The Aspire E 15 has an excellent cooling system that ensures it remains comfortable when watching a movie or running a CPU intensive application with the machine on your lap. Its keyboard, touchpad and bottom temperatures remained within the acceptable heating threshold of 90 degrees Fahrenheit after it played a high definition video in full-screen mode for 20 minutes.
